The Austrian/American logician and mathematician Kurt Gödel died on January 14, 1978, from being a picky eater.
He had a compulsive fear of being poisoned and would only eat the food prepared by his wife Adele. Adele was hospitalized for six months and could no longer prepare food. During this time his weight dropped to 65 pounds (29.48 kg).
The official cause of death listed on the death certificate was “malnutrition and inanition caused by personality disorder.”
