Your New Word for the Day: Catchfart

If you are in need of a proven conversation starter, try to use the word catchfart at your next social gathering.

A catchfart is an old word that refers to a foot servant or page. The name attests to the closeness with which a devoted servant was expected to follow the master or mistress.

The earliest use of the word was by author and lexicographer Guy Miege in 1688. Now it is up to you to restore its place in our modern lexicon.
