Groucho Marx Says Today is Your Day to Choose to Be Happy

One of the undisputed experts at bringing happiness was Groucho Marx. Surprisingly, he didn’t seem to think it was his responsibility — or even within his power — to make people happy. That responsibility lay a lot closer to home.

He said, “I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.”
