One of the most memorable moments in the Indiana Jones movies was not part of the original script.
In the 1981 film Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) runs into a large sword-wielding bad guy dressed all in black. Rather than get involved in a long, drawn-out sword fight, Indy lets out an exasperated sigh, pulls out a revolver, and ends the fight with one shot. The scene, as written, called for a long, dramatic, action-packed sword fight. When it came time to shoot the scene, however, Ford was ill because of food poisoning. He suggested to director Steven Spielberg that the scene be changed to the briefer — and funnier — scene. Spielberg agreed, resulting in a classic Indiana Jones’ moment in movie-lovers’ memories.
