When it comes to complexity of the written language, few can compete with the Chinese. Take, for example, the above character for the word nàng. It consists of 36 individual strokes, and it represents the sound one’s voice makes as a result of having a congested nose.

It consists of 57 strokes and is supposed to represent the sound of noodles slapping the table as they are being made or, alternatively, the sound of lips smacking as hungry diners feast upon noodles. This name, given to a type of noodle that is popular in the Chinese province of Shaanxi. Writing it is guaranteed to burn off at least a few of the calories you will gain from eating the delicious food.
