guinness world record longest career
When Thomas Stoddard was hired by the Speakman Company, Calvin Coolidge was in his last year of office, and Model T’s filled the city streets. When he retired, George W. Bush was in his last year of office, and privately-owned companies were sending machines into orbit.

Stoddard was hired as a mail boy on February 16, 1928 at the age of 16. The Delaware company that designs and sells plumbing equipment saw promise in the teenage Stoddard and progressively promoted him through the ranks. When he retired eighty years later at the age of 96, Stoddard was a member of the board of directors. Along the way, he earned a Guinness World Record for working the longest time for a single company.
