I don’t think adult wolves bark at all. My understanding is that dogs only bark when they’re raised by humans so their brains never develop past puppyhood where barking is used to beg for food/attention so forth
I saw an interesting documentary some time ago about Russian scientists who selectively crossbreed foxes with dogs to figure out the point at which the animal becomes “domesticated.” There are a lot of interesting traits that dogs have that seem to be designed primarily to endear themselves to humans.
I saw/read something about this, it bums out in a way I can’t exactly explain. I think foxes are neat, I don’t want them to become our pets.
